Instant Cameras are an interesting subject for some camera fanatics. They've taken many forms since their invention by Edwon Land in 1947. The most recent and most practical instant cameras contain a self-developing film cartridge which holds film for ten photos. You simply snap the picture, and patient wait a few minutes for it to develop in front of your eyes.

Polaroid of course is the name which is synonamous with instant cameras simply because they've outsold any other brand of instant camera ever produced. Large Corporations like Keystone Camera, Konica, Minolta, Fuji, and Continental have all released instant cameras of their own. None of them achieved the success of Polaroid. Kodak even gave it a try with the release of their "Kodak Instant Camera". This particular camera brought on an almost immediate lawsuit by Polaroid accusing them of patent infringement. Polaroid proved their case and the Kodak instant camera became history.

To this day Polaroid instant cameras are still widely used, with some practical applications where an instant photo is a great advantage over waiting for developing. Construction workers, insurance adjusters, medical profeesionals, and police are just a few examples of where self developing film has the advantage over standard film.
